 Abstract:  The Cleveland Iron Mining Company was organized in 1863, in Cleveland, Ohio, to mine iron ore in the Great Lakes area. Its founders included Samuel Mather and other prominent Cleveland businessmen. The collection consists of correspondence between various officers of the company, including Samuel L. Mather, with mine superintendents in Marquette and Ishpeming, Michigan, relating to mining operations in the Lake Superior region.
